Selling a car without a title

What that looks like

• Have your photo ID and the registration or old plate if you still have them
• We'll need the VIN off the dash or the door jamb
• If the car is in someone else's name, tell us up front — it changes what we need
• What we can do depends on Illinois rules and the specific car, so call and ask

Have this ready when you call

Year, make and model; the cross streets where it's parked; whether it rolls and steers; whether the catalytic converter and wheels are still on it; and whether you have the title. That's enough for a real number.

If the car is parked in behind another vehicle, sitting in a locked garage, or in an alley that a flatbed can't get down, mention it — we'll send the right truck the first time.
