What we'll ask you
- Year, make, model. Trim helps if you know it.
- Where it's parked. Cross streets, and whether it's in an alley, a garage, a lot or on the street.
- Does it roll and steer? A car that rolls is faster to load.
- What's missing. Converter, wheels, doors, engine — this is the biggest single factor in the number.
- Title situation. Have it, don't have it, or it's in someone else's name.
What to have ready at pickup
- Photo ID
- Title, if you have one
- Keys, if they exist
- Personal items cleared out of the trunk, glovebox and under the seats
Heads up: check under the seats and in the spare tire well. Things turn up in cars that have been sitting for years, and once it's on the truck it's gone.
Common questions
How long does the whole thing take?
The call takes a few minutes. The pickup itself takes about ten. Most people go from first call to cash in hand the same day.
Do you pay cash or check?
Cash, handed to you at the vehicle before it goes on the truck.
Do I have to be there?
Someone with ID who can hand over the keys and paperwork needs to be there. It doesn't have to be you if you arrange it ahead of time — just tell us on the call.
What if the car is blocked in or in a garage?
Tell us when you book so we send the right truck. Blocked-in cars, locked garages and tight alleys are routine.
Should I take the plates off?
Yes — the driver will help. Keep them and cancel your registration with the Illinois Secretary of State afterward so you're not billed for a car you don't own.
